Installing Aegir on ubuntu 9.1
I have been wanting to get Aegir up and running

on the latest ubuntu server. I finally got a chance to do it this weekend. Aegir is hosting platform for drupal. and ubuntu is my favorite linux distro.
I installed #aegir 0.4-alpha3. this is not the latest stable release. But it does have some new features I wanted to try out. Unfortunately there
are some known issues with the release, but I was able to work around them, by examining the issue queue and this comment in particular. I also found mig5's video on the subject to be veru useful.
I used the intructions from the install.txt file and used the install.sh script from the issue above. But I had tow do two things as well.
- as part of the server setup, I made sure to install php5-curl, since that is a current dependancy. I think that dependancy will be removed in future versions.
- I increased the default php resoruce limit to 90MB from 16mb. This took care of a fatal error that I was getting during part of the hostmaster install.

One additional point, I set the postifx configuration to" internet and mail site"
That took care all the issues I had. I hope that helps some people.
UPDATE: make sure you pay anttention to mig5 point about not using the default shell when running the install script. You have to use bash. He makes the point in the video.
